Vintage unique Russian Lacquer box "Winter Night In The Forest" was handmade and handpainted by one of the well known artists Valeriy Kovalyov. It shows the travelers sledging through the winter forest at night. The full moon floods a forest path with its scanty light. The travelers are tired and cold. They want to come back to their warm, cozy homes.
The scene is framed with a thin, light blue line. Beautiful intricate golden and silver ornaments wrap around the sides of the box. Turquoise blue tones of oils are used to paint the scene, and to cover the box's exterior. Light blue blurry spots are scattered against the turquoise background on the box's sides, these blurry spots resemble snow covered bushes and trees.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name on the right side of the lid , Russian Collection on the left.
The size of the artwork is 4" x 4" x 2".
